ENG 090 Reference List (Works Cited) Assignment Using C.S. Lewis Sources
DUE ON MOODLE

  1. You must find one book, one academic journal article, and one website about C.S. Lewis.
  2. Select Sources: Begin at the library homepage:  campbellsville.edu/library
    • Finding a book or an e-book:
      1. On the Montgomery Library homepage, scroll down to find the CU Search box.   
      2. Click “E-Books” or “Print Books.” (Repeat these steps for each type of book.)
      3. Enter “C.S. Lewis” in quotation marks into CU Search box and click “Search.”
      4. Click a source about him. Make sure someone else is the author.
      5. Click “Cite.”
      6. Select “APA 7th ed.” under “Select a citation style.”
      7. Click “Copy Citation” and paste it into a Word document.
      8. Edit the citation format to match the examples on Purdue OWL (see links below).
    • Finding an article in a peer-reviewed journal:
      1. On the Montgomery Library homepage, scroll down to find the CU Search box.   
      2. Click “Articles”
      3. Enter “C.S. Lewis” in quotation marks into CU Search box and click “Search”
      4. Think of a topic. Enter the following: “C.S. Lewis” AND ___(your topic)_____
      5. Click “Search”
      6. On the left-hand side of the page, click “Show Only” and then click “Peer Reviewed”
      7. Click a source about C.S. Lewis.
      8. Click “Cite.”
      9. Select “APA 7th ed.” under “Select a citation style.”
      10. Click “Copy Citation” and paste it into a Word document.
      11. Edit the citation format to match the examples on Purdue OWL (see links below).
  3. Creating a Works Cited Page in APA format:

      • For a Website
        1. Use a search engine such as Google to find a website about C.S. Lewis. Make sure the website was created by a reliable authority, such as a library or university.
        2. Follow the format described here at the Purdue OWL to complete your citation. (To find the Purdue OWL page, you can also type the following search into Google search: how to cite a website in APA Purdue OWL.)        
    • For a Book:
      • Edit your citation to correct errors in italics and spacing.  Compare with the format explained here at the Purdue OWL website. (To find the Purdue OWL page, you can also type the following search into Google search: how to cite a book in APA Purdue OWL.)
    • For Journal Articles:
      1. Edit to correct errors in italics and spacing.  Compare with the format explained here at the Purdue OWL website. (To find the Purdue OWL page, you can also type the following search into Google search how to cite a scholarly journal in APA Purdue OWL.)

*Note: Your works cited page should look like the example on Moodle (with different citations, of course). All citations must be in alphabetical order, with hanging indentation, and in APA format: Times New Roman, 12-point font, double spaced, 1-inch margins, and last name and page number in the top right corner.
