Citation with Missing Quotation Marks
Sometimes students cite a source correctly, but they forget to use quotation marks around copied material! Why is this plagiarism? This is still deceptive and considered plagiarism because the student did not do the wordsmithing to create those sentences. Copied phrases have to go in quotation marks, especially if there are more than four or five words copied in a row. One exception is the proper names of things or places, which can be several words long.
